Thank you for your interest in commissioning me to photograph your wedding! It is always a huge honor when someone connects with my work enough to inquire with me about documenting such a significant, meaningful occasion. I am based in the southeast U.S. but available to travel anywhere your love story might take us. All wedding photography commissions include full day coverage on both film and digital mediums (or film-only, if requested).
As a documentary photographer, I prefer not to work with shot lists or photography timelines. I focus on presence, connection and observation as my primary skill set— my goal is to make pictures that capture you and your loved ones honestly, photographs that stand the test of time.
I’m thrilled you’re here. Below is some more detailed information about my approach, process, and rates. Once you’re ready to move forward (or if you have any questions), don’t hesitate to get in touch!

To build comfort and trust, I like to meet couples in person over drinks or a meal a few months before the wedding. I typically shoot a roll of film over the course of the evening, resulting in a handful of heartfelt portraits from the engagement season and giving couples a sense of what to expect from me as their photographer.
Many couples tend to find that this experience totally upends their expectations of what it will be like to be professionally photographed— in a good way! They find that they can truly just be themselves, and there is nothing we need to fake.
I also attend the welcome/rehearsal dinner of each wedding I photograph, even if a couple does not include rehearsal dinner coverage in their photography collection. Attending the rehearsal dinner helps me begin immersing myself and connecting with your loved ones before the arrival of the wedding day— something I have found to be crucial in making my best, most meaningful work.
On the wedding day, I tend to blend in as if I am another wedding guest who happens to have a couple of old film cameras slung around her neck. A street photographer in the friendly village that is your wedding— intuition over itinerary, presence over perfection.
My primary focus is to make room for my subjects to be themselves and feel the weight of the moment, and then to document it in a way that is authentic and specific to the couple. I avoid conventional, formulaic shots, instead keeping an eye out for the unexpected, the tender, the in-between and the imperfect.
Most of all, I look for what is real. Interludes and crescendos— the essence of this moment.
The essence of you.

“Grey commits herself to knowing you as a whole person before she picks up the camera and that makes all the difference. She cares about the relational aspect of art and that is precisely why she is an outstanding photographer and human. My wife and I are so incredibly pleased with our wedding photographs, and with the relationship we have formed with her.”

How to Book
Our next step is to hop on a quick phone or video call to talk about the details of your event, go over any questions you have, and ensure that we are a good fit.
After our conversation, I will send over a photography proposal for you to review. Once you’re ready, a signed contract and a 25% retainer officially book your date.

A 25% nonrefundable deposit is due to officially book your session. This deposit goes toward your total session balance, which is due by the date of your session. Payment can be made via credit/debit, Venmo, Zelle, or cash.
-
Yes! Payment plans are available and can be customized to suit what works best for you, whether you would like to pay in one lump sum or a handful of smaller installments (no interest or added fees ever btw).

I calculate travel on a case-by-case basis, depending on the distance and scope of your event. Sometimes travel costs merely reflect transportation & mileage, whereas sometimes they include accommodations and lodging if an event is too far to be a day trip. Travel fees are included upfront as part of your photography collection total.

This is a great question! There are a lot of differences, both philosophically and technically. One of the most visible is that film color ranges and tonal depths remain unparalleled in quality, even with the modern digital technology we have today. I shoot with 35mm, 120 (aka medium format) and vintage Polaroid film. Each of these mediums has a different set of strengths and characteristics. Feel free to ask me more about this so we can have a more in-depth conversation about it!
