Engagement portraits of Blair & Clay at Centennial Park — so grateful for these two (who were gifted an engagement session with me) for trusting that there is a method to my madness of no posing/no prompting, even though it can feel like getting thrown on a bike without any training wheels.

Resisting the urge to “rescue” by giving a prompt, making room for people to be themselves, slowing down enough to document people on their own terms - that is how I make my best possible work. It’s a slower process because it needs to be. It moves at the pace of relationship building. Whenever I photograph engagements & weddings, I’m asking myself how I’d want it done if it were me, and real wins out over perfect every time. I want every picture I make to feel real and true and human.
