The majority of the time, yes – this is how I am able to capture the tender, everyday rhythms you see in my work. This also helps kids feel the most comfortable and at ease (and keeps it easy for when they might need a snack, bathroom, change of clothes, etc). Occasionally, families will request a session in a nearby park, restaurant, or other meaningful location. I happily welcome these ideas, too— feel free to pitch me anything you’ve got in mind!

I would think of it less as a “session” and more as family time I will come join for a couple of hours, the photos happening along the way. Family sessions are never the same thing twice – over the years I’ve been witness to playing outside, going on walks, popsicles on the porch, baking, bathtime, naps, and more. I don’t need anyone (kids or adults) to know how to pose or “be” on camera – in fact, I prefer that you don’t! My primary goal is to capture your children’s genuine personalities and expressions, whatever they may be.
